The 1st University of Tsukuba Ventures Symposium

The 1st University of Tsukuba Venture Symposium titled "In the era of new growth" was held at the Tokyo Campus Bunkyo School Building on December 4. There were 189 participants exceeding the venue capacity, giving evidence of the high degree of expectations about University of Tsukuba ventures.


President Kyosuke Nagata disclosed in his greetings that our university funding for AY 2018 has been rapidly expanding to 3.2 billion yen. Subsequently, a keynote speech titled "Industry-University collaborations in a new era" was delivered by Associate Professor Yoichi Ochiai of the Faculty of Library, Information and Media Science, the CEO of Pixie Dust Technologies, Inc. which is a startup company originating from the University of Tsukuba. In this speech, he clearly illustrated the innovation of the special collaborative research project system of the University of Tsukuba, citing his own strategies of fostering ventures.


After that, presentations were delivered by the University of Tsukuba ventures consisting of 3 parts and representatives of 14 companies took the stage to provide an overview from the origin that led up to the start of the business to development technologies, financial arrangements, and new business models, representing an opportunity to appeal the activities of university ventures and that the Tsukuba area is a leading cradle of start-ups throughout Japan.
