Venue of the Study Abroad Fair

The Go Abroad!〈2018 Spring Study Abroad Fair〉 was held in the University Hall Special Conference Room and co-hosted by Global Commons, Office of Global Initiatives, Top Global University Project Office of the Department of Educational Promotion, and Division of Student Exchange of the Department of Student Welfare of the University of Tsukuba on May 17 (Thursday).

This fair is held every spring and autumn, designed to convey the appeal of studying abroad to students.

It provides information about entrance systems, scholarships, and studying abroad of overseas universities in each country, arranges opportunities to exchange information with students with study abroad experience, and passes down the appeal of studying abroad directly. Individual consultations were also offered to students who aspire after student exchange and short-term training in overseas partner universities.

This year, various booths including consultation desks of off-campus organizations managing international cooperation programs, scholarship information, and training programs overseas and students with study abroad experience were set up along with area-specific booths.

As a new initiative on this occasion, 「Study Abroad」×「Career」Seminar was also conducted in the fair venue hosted by the Division of Career Services of the Department of Student Affairs.

This seminar was organized under the cooperation of Recruit Career Co., Ltd., an enterprise sponsored by the "Young Ambassador Program" of the "Tobitate! Study Abroad Initiative" developed among public and private sectors by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to get students of our university to strive for a career-focused study abroad. A talk pertaining to 「Study Abroad」×「Career」by Recruit Career Co., Ltd., a description of study abroad program by the Division of Student Exchange, and a report on experiences of students who studied abroad with the Tobitate! Study Abroad Initiative were given in the seminar.

There were about 250 students and it provided a good opportunity for information collection and cross-cultural exchange with making places overseas seem closer for participants by making introductions of culture of each country and region with the assistance of international students.

Our university will further expand various support for studying abroad to meet the needs of students to add even more students who are spreading their wings around the world from Tsukuba.
