Opening Ceremony for the Intensive Japanese Course for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship Students for Academic Year 2018



On April 12, the opening ceremony for the Intensive Japanese Course for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Students who entered the University of Tsukuba in April of 2018 was held at the University of Tsukuba Center for Education of Global Communication (CEGLOC), the former International Student Center (ISC). Students who take the course and related teachers participated in the ceremony. In the opening ceremony Professor Hirosada Iwasaki of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (CEGLOC Director) offered words of encouragement including the introduction of Japanese language and culture.


Eleven students who entered the course starting from April 2018 will intensively learn Japanese language in CEGLOC for about 4 months to develop their basic ability of Japanese language to support their smooth life of research in Japan. In addition, they will become familiar with Japanese language and culture through participating in a variety of events held inside and outside of the University.


The students who entered in the Intensive Japanese Course starting from April of 2018 are from the following nations:

Iraq, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Cambodia, Tanzania, Pakistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Peru, Portugal, Mexico
