On August 27, 2017, President Kyosuke Nagata joined the University of Tsukuba Thai Alumni Association assembly in Bangkok.

The University of Tsukuba Thai Alumni Association connects friends who have studied or are currently studying at the University of Tsukuba, thus promoting cooperation based on friendship by organizing frequent meetings with each other where they can exchange information and keep an open window to cooperate closely with our university. Undergraduates, graduate students, as well as exchange students and short-term visiting students comprise the association, with registered members of more than 100 to date.

Over 36 years, from 1981 to 2017, the University of Tsukuba has graduated 191 Thai students, of which about 39% were awarded master degrees, and about 40% for doctor degrees, especially in the fields of Agricultural Science and Engineering.

More than 40 people from all over Thailand attended the alumni association assembly, most of whom are active in Thailand as university educators, and they had the chance to reminisce together on their university days in Tsukuba with nostalgia.

The 3rd Overseas Alumni Conference is taking place in September 2017 during Tsukuba Global Science Week. Thailand will once again be represented, joining other international alumni and students from 14 countries or regions, at this annual event to further strengthen the international network of our university.
