Innovation World Festa 2017

Students involved in organizing the event - from start to end

Innovation World Festa 2017, a large music and technology event made possible by the collaboration of the University of Tsukuba with J-WAVE, Inc., was held on June 3 (Sat). This event was held at the University of Tsukuba Hall for the first time last year, inviting famous innovators, artists and venture companies, and attracted many people.

This year, it was held at Tsukuba Capio. The fully-packed program featured several parallel talk sessions with famous innovators and public figures as presenters, and concert performances by innovative artists. In addition, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) also participated in the talk session and workshop, shared the fascination of space and the deep ocean with technology.

The Innovation World Festa also set up multiple booths to provide visitors with experience of technologies, including the operation of Big Robot, Personal Mobility, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Internet of Things (IoT). Those workshops were great opportunities for all ages to experience future technologies.

The idea for the event germinated from our students. They were involved in organizing the event from start to end, as they did last year.

On the day of the event, the students were all over the venue, in charge of stage management for talk sessions, video direction of the music performances of guest artists together with the university's Dance Club, planning of the outdoor food court, and others.

With an audience of around 3,800 people, the event closed with a huge success.
