職業や「場」に特化されず、生命と環境に広く関わる実践可能な倫理の構築に関連し、生命やその質の選択をさまざまなかたちでしている現代社会の矛盾を多角的にとらえる。それによって、どのような社会的立場にあっても人間性を地球環境規模でとらえることのできる分析力を涵養することにもつながる。

受講生それぞれが、特定の社会の枠組みの中にとらわれず、自らを地球環境の一員としてとらえ、そこから人として研究者として、さらに職業人として自らの役割を考えることのできる力を涵養する。この目標を達成するため、レポート提出やそれへの担当教員からのフィードバック、クラスでのディスカッションを行い、各受講生が独自の意見を形成する助けとする。この学習過程を通して実践的かつ独創的な問題解決能力を養成する。

As ethical fields for researches and medical treatments have developed in response to the needs in specific work places or social conditions/status, we have faced some discrepancies and dilemmas in applying ethical principles. Taking into account these problems, this course examines the development of individual issues in applied ethics, including human rights, animal rights/welfare, research ethics, industrial risk management, sustainable development and international environmental negotiations. These topics aim to provide a global environmental context for students to reexamine their good choice for the quality of life in modern society as global citizens. This course also aims to foster applicable ethical visions among students for their future both as persons and professional workers. The objective of this course is to help students form their own intellectual opinions that can be both practical and innovative for solving problems. The evaluation is assessed by one short research paper and in-class discussion/ participation.
